SO UNDEAD!

Reichenergerstr. 28 / Kottbusser Tor station: U1, U8
So Undead! is an exhibit about making connections between seemingly unrelated genres: Extreme Guitar Music ie. Punk, Metal and HC and the endless shades of Electronica. The art that will be shown at the event is wholly based on interviews conducted with artists, who in the past have dabbled in guitar distortion and are currently masters of the art of the synthetic. The interviewees include: Mary Anne Hobbs, Robot Koch (Jahcoozi), Cristian Vogel (Super Collider), T.Raumschmiere, Vladislav Delay, The Foreign Beggars, The Creep, Sneaky (Fingathing), The Bug etc.
The interviews will be presented as a series of book panels designed and illustrated by 44flavours, Nathan Menglesis and Margarita Rojas, and a video installation prepared by director Pol Ponsarnau. Additionally Robot Koch, Cristian Vogel and Sneaky will be playing an eclectic mixture of Garage, Punk, Metal and Electronica.
The project was curated by Lukasz Polowczyk & 44flavours

SNEAKY “FEEL LIKE A REMIX” album OUT NOW!!
If you’ve slept on Sneaky’s electric “Feel Like A King…Pluck A String” debut then here’s a chance to redeem yourself , to save face.
“Feel Like a Remix” is more than just a solid follow up – it’s a colourful gang of interpretations and remixes by a talented host of producers. The culprits behind the face-lift include Dj High Priest, Peter Parker, Danny Drive Thru, The Glue Kids, Robot Koch, Paper Tiger, Paddy Steer, Filewile and Sneaky himself. The record also boasts the unreleased original song Deeper voiced by Berlin’s very own RQM.
Genre thinking is inoperative here.
Every song casts a different perspective, pushing and pulling the core Sneaky elements in new directions. However, what makes this record special in this day and age is that it actually plays like one.
“With ´Feel Like A King…Pluck A String´ my aim was to make modern instrumental soul music with depth through simplicity, which, on an emotional level. expands and contracts my own heart when i listen to it. To do this i basically put as much of my own playing and feel into the music.
Passing over the tracks to be re-interpreted for this follow up remix album has been a little like letting one’s kids out on their own for the first time (i imagine!). However the excitement of hearing the new Frankensteins has been absolutely heart-warming. i am thankful to all the producers who´ve risen to the challenge and extremely proud of the collective result. I cannot wait for these tracks to be heard” Sneaky
The remixers………………

A turntablist and beatmaker affiliated with such past great nights as Sub Tub and Spellbound, through to new breed nights like Hoya:Hoya and Mind On Fire. GLUEKIDS
Inspired by drugs, junk food, junk music, junk television, dub and techno clubs, Glue Kids is the musical project of Madrid´s own DJ Tres. Raised with his father´s records, a collection where The Specials sat together with Peter Gabriel, De la Soul or Bill Laswell´s Material, Glue Kids claim that hardcore-punk band DFL is their main influence. Subsequently inspired by hip hop´s Golden Era, Glue Kids´ music takes from here and there, using as many things as possible with one main purpose, the head nod. Relocated to Barcelona in 2010 after being a Berliner, the infamous Glue Kids are working on putting together as many dope beats as possible. Nothing more, and nothing less.

PETER PARKER
After coming 3rd in the UK DMC championships in 1997 scratch DJ/Turntablist Peter Parker was spotted by Mark Rae from Grand Central Records and drafted in to work with Rae and Christian´s live band where he met Fingathing partner in crime, Sneaky. The duo went on to make 3 ground-breaking LPs of turntable and double bass madness. After a UK tour with DJ Shadow, Parker´s love affair with the MPC drum machine grew immensely and he started to experiment more and more with samples. He joined Manchester group the Realdolls as beatmaker and live MPC player. Under his alias Parkertron, a 7” shared with Diesler featuring MPC funk tune Deadly DIY was released on 2 Dogs Records in spring 2010. Most recently, he has completed Fingathing´s highly anticipated 4th LP with Sneaky (due out 2011).

ROBOT KOCH
Hailing from Berlin, producer Robot Koch is not only the mastermind behind Jahcoozi (Bpitch Control), he also produces and performs as a solo artist under his own name and works as a beatmaker and producer with many different artists internationally. In 2009 he started running his own label “robots dont sleep“.
On his first album Death Star Droid , Robot Koch presented a thrilling vision of the point where dubstep, hip-hop and its myriad of influences fuse into a kaleidoscopic collage of sounds. After his mix on Flying Lotus`s Brainfeeder site, the rep grew bigger. His 2nd solo Album “songs for trees and cyborgs“ is out now on Projekt Mooncircle.
Robot has made beats and remixes for artists like Infinite Livez (Ninja Tune/Big Dada), Bassnectar (child`s play), Rustie (Stuff Records), Marteria and Marsimoto (Four Music), Envy (Start Stop), Mochipet (Daly City), Justine Electra (City Slang), Raz Ohara (Kitty Yo), Al Haca (Klein) and Christopher Wiltis (Ghostly International), Yolanda be cool (superstar) and Amanda Blank (downtown rec). His music has been remixed by the likes of Modeselektor (Bpitch Control), Chris de Luca (Funkstörung) and Ata (Playhouse).
PADDY STEER
Paddy is a Zelig like character along the timeline of Manchester’s musical activity. It’s a testament to his musicality that he has played with such a wide range of music and artists over the years, be it as a bass player, drummer, Hawaain guitarist etc or all these roles at the same time.
His own Homelife project released five albums in recent years through Ninja Tune and his own imprint Mad Waltz label. Homelifes sound was intricate but with a warm sense of wonder, a balance of songs and instrumentals. Many musicians contributed to the Homelife project ,brewed slowly by Paddy in his Attic before being taken out as a small orchestra for some very unique concerts.
Paddy’s Attic studio is like the magic workshop –Not only is he making music in there he’s making instruments, mending junk, filming animations or constructing robots.
Never one to blow his own trumpet Paddy quietly gets on with developing his craft ,there is something of the fairytale cobbler working late into the night in order to make the finest shoes in the kingdom, or may be the musical elves strike up while he ‘s in bed

FILEWILE
Based in Bern, Switzerland Andreas Ryser (Dustbowl) and Daniel Jakob (Dejot) started out in 2003 as mobile laptop street musicians at the gates of the Sonar festival. This swiftly gave Filewile an international reputation. During endless rehearsals for a Flamenco theatre-dance piece under the hot sun of southern Spain, DJ Dustbowl and musician and singer Dejot came up with the concept for Filewile, a strict DIY strategy: Music, production, distribution, concerts, merchandise – all done by themselves.
The Filewile sound keeps evolving: Dub influenced Electronica, twisted Hip Hop, Space Funk with Kalimba and plastic guitars, cut up farfia organ sounds and jangling percussion from mistreated echo devices with cheesy synthesiser sounds mashed up on top to create their sound.
